Speech-Language Pathology Scholarships and Awards

Merit Based Scholarships

Merit-based scholarships are awarded to M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology students based on prior academic excellence. All applicants are considered for merit-based scholarships. A separate application is not required. Submit completed program application and all supplemental documents to the Office of Graduate Admission by the application deadline to be considered.

Graduate Assistantships

Applicants to the graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology may apply for a graduate assistantship in the Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences department by following the below process. Graduate assistantships are also available University-wide.

To apply for a GA position within the department, please submit the following items as separate documents to Graduate Program Director Colleen McElroy, crmcelroy@loyola.edu, no later than January 15, regardless of your admission status. Applications will still be accepted after the deadline and placed on a waitlist.  Please note that students should apply prior to being accepted into the program. Late applications will be placed on a waitlist for consideration if space becomes available.

  • Contact information for 3 references (name, phone, email) 

  • Brief essay (approx. 250 words) delineating your (a) work experiences (e.g., research assistant), (b) responsibilities (e.g., data collection, data analysis), and (c) skills (e.g., SPSS, Microsoft Office) that are particularly relevant to an assistantship position in SLP. In addition, please indicate your interest and/or experience with a particular area of research in SLP.

Graduate Assistantship positions within the department are offered for the fall and spring of the first year of the program only. If you have any questions about the GA application process, please contact Dr. Pitts!

Fellowships and More!

The Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences department offers the opportunity to apply for the Bernard A. Saltysiak Clinical Fellowship (restricted to former ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø undergraduates) and the John W. Brockman Fellowship for Speech-Language Pathology. Information and application requirements for the Bernard A. Saltysiak Clinical Fellowship are distributed in the summer prior to beginning the program and for John W. Brockman Fellowship are distributed in the spring semester of the first-year of the program.

School of National Service Americorps Matching Grant

ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø offers a $1,000 matching grant ($500 a semester for the first two semesters) to AmeriCorps volunteers who are accepted and enroll in a ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø degree seeking graduate program.
