Parking FAQs

Here are answers to some of the common parking-related questions:

How do I obtain a "visitor" or "temporary" parking permit for weekdays and weekends?

You can obtain a visitor pass in advance at SAS from 8:30a.m. - 5:00p.m. Monday - Friday. You can get a pass at all times in the public safety department at the Physical Plant Bldg., Room 200. Temporary Parking Permits for students are available for $15.00 per week.  Everyone parked in all lots at ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø except the Jenkins Lot should have a hang tag, sticker, or temporary pass. If you do not have any of these, you can be ticketed and towed.

Where is the best parking spot for visitors on weekdays and weekends?

Visitors either coming to see students or doing business with the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø community can park at the Cathedral lot or at the York Road lot.  Paid parking is available at the Jenkins lot.

I live in McAuley, but I have a group meeting with my classmates in Newman. Can I drive my car and park at the "2 hour" meters?

All students can park in 2 hour metered spaces and feed the meters. Meters are free after 5 p.m. Monday - Friday and on weekends.

What should I do, if I have a West Side sticker, but all lots are full, can I park illegally? Will I be ticketed?

Never park illegally especially in fire lanes, handicapped spots, or other areas designated as a "Tow Away Zone". Your vehicle will be towed at your expense. Park temporarily in a visitor's spot on the York Road lot and call public safety at ext. 5010 and tell them where cars are parked illegally. They will go and ticket the violators. After 3 tickets, cars will be towed away. You paid for these parking spaces and deserve to park there. Unfortunately, you may have to help us enforce the rule by calling public safety.

When my parents come to visit, they usually bring a lot of stuff for me. Is there a loading zone where they can park?

See the answer to question #2. Also remember the Jenkins lot is free on most Saturdays and Sundays. The pull off spot on Charles Street near the Lower Courtyard is now a 30 minute unloading/ loading zone.

I have a class at Notre Dame of Maryland University; do we have a shuttle to take me there?

We do not have a shuttle to Notre Dame. However, some of the shuttles stop at the Fitness & Aquatic Center lot. Notre Dame is only a short walk across the street from here.

Where do I put my sticker?

Stickers are to be placed on the driver's side back window (lower left corner). If someone pulls your sticker off from the outside, it will not help him or her because it will not adhere to another window again. Students can be ticketed for a registration violation if their sticker is not on the car's back window.

I have a Jeep. My friend has a convertible, Where do we put our stickers?

Put it on your rear bumper on the drivers side. The officers will look there for your sticker.

When can graduate students park at the Cathedral?

Graduate students with valid hang tags can park at the Cathedral Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 11 p.m during the fall and spring semesters.

Do Graduate students have to pay to register their car?

No, graduate students are not charged a fee, but must register a vehicle if they plan to drive to the Evergreen campus and Belvedere Square.  Any students that have classes at the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø Clinical Centers at Belvedere Square should select that option on the registration form.  The Belvedere Square hang tags are valid at the Evergreen campus.
