International Business Major and Minor
As an international business major in ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø’s Sellinger School of Business and Management, you’ll develop the global perspective needed to stay competitive and take the lead in an array of careers—from government relations and global operations to marketing and business development.
Our experiential curriculum lets you see your studies in action through internships, service-learning, study tours and more—giving you hands-on, practical experience working in today’s global business environment. Based in Baltimore—home to leading global businesses including Under Armour, McCormick & Co., and Stanley Black & Decker—ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø’s international business program provides access to industry leaders that are locally based and globally-minded.

Multidisciplinary Approach
As a ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø international business major, you’ll learn how to tackle the complex challenges of the global business environment through an array of disciplines including political science, global studies, sociology, and business, all while keeping our Jesuit values at the core of your approach and process.

From learning about the cultural differences between U.S. and international ways of conducting business to developing in-demand communication and key analytical skills, graduates of ÀÏ°ÄÃÅ¿ª½±Íø’s international business program will:
- Develop complex problem solving and analytical skills to assess the global marketplace;
- Practice creative and critical thinking as well as communicating clearly and empathetically;

Global Environment of Business
IB 282
Examine the social, political, and economic contexts that influence global businesses
and explore how global businesses address the unique challenges and opportunities
presented by globalization. Develop the analytical skills to assess cultural differences
between U.S. and non-U.S. businesses, and identify tensions, interests, and responsibilities
among global stakeholders, institutions and public policy.
Cross-Cultural Exchanges
IB 372
Gain new insights and strategies for dealing with cross-cultural complexity that affects
individual and team effectiveness in the workplace. The course also enables students
to maximize their study abroad/international experiences by way of theory and practice,
sharing and collaborating with one another, and learning from one another’s methods,
assumptions, values, knowledge, and points of view.
International Management
IB 415
Investigate business policy, strategy, structure, and process in an international
context. In this course you’ll develop an understanding of the complex and varied
role of the general manager in a nondomestic environment.
